month 8

Click on the picture for more from his 8th month.

He’s still working on crawling, a few steps with his hands and then flat on the belly when he’s near whatever drove him to move. His top teeth aren’t in yet but they’re working on it (and it’s been pretty hard on poor Jake).

This month included a hike in Harriman State Park, our first Mothers’ Day, his first contact with the ground, trips to the Museum of Modern Art & the Guggenheim, and a long walk from Battery Park to DUMBO via the Brooklyn Bridge.

Harriman Map

On April 25th, we took a walk in the woods at Harriman State Park. Click the map for pictures of our hike. I’m a big fan of the Sherpani baby carrier. We hiked for 5 hours - Jake enjoyed the sights, slept a while, and was generally good about being a passenger. We finished the hike, like all good hikes should end, with a delicious diner meal (at the Center Diner in Peekskill).

Mother and Son

Thank you to my mother for bringing me into the world and caring for me.
Thank you to Dorota for bringing my son into the world and caring for him.

Month 7

That’s one swinging kid.

Okay, okay, it’s now seven months plus seventeen days. Click on this picture for more from the seventh month (the eight month will be coming along soon enough).

His first tooth came in on April 1st. No fooling!

While working his way through new sounds, ma-ma is not one of them yet. Da-da, pa-pa, ta-ta, ba-ba, but not ma-ma. Still, on this mother’s day, I will remind him once again that if not for Dorota, he’d be with the gypsies. So, perhaps he’ll remember that going forward and try a bit harder for ma-ma.

Jake’s not crawling yet, but is developing his abs through a series of crunches and sitting bouncing in preparation for the big day.
